Bring a conversation piece into your home with this beautifully restored vintage uranium glass table lamp. Under normal lighting, the glass has a lovely vintage appearance, but under a black light it glows a brilliant neon green, revealing the uranium content that makes these pieces so collectible today.
Uranium was historically added to glass not only for its distinctive color, but also because it improved clarity, enhanced molded details, reduced imperfections, and created a smoother, more brilliant finish. Today, uranium glass remains highly sought after by collectors of vintage lighting and decorative glass.
This lamp originally had part of its base missing, so I carefully restored it with a new solid wood base. The base was painted a rich deep purple, then finished with black and bronze waxes to create depth and a subtle aged patina that complements the vintage glass beautifully.
The lamp has been cleaned, inspected, rewired and is ready to enjoy for many years to come.
This lamp looks especially beautiful paired with either:
- a 16-inch drum lampshade, or
- one of my large empire shades.
Handmade lampshades are sold separately. Please browse my shop for coordinating shades, or contact me to have one custom made specifically for this lamp.
