At Difficult Creek Lighting, Custom Built Lamps embody our creative spirit and commitment to sustainable design! Drawing from a treasure trove of collected parts, our founder Amie delights in crafting one-of-a-kind pieces from found objects, blending them seamlessly with new and vintage lamp components to create functional art for your eclectic home.

Many of our custom builds are ingeniously up-cycled from old glass lamps in our Scottsburg, Virginia workshop. We transform dated pieces by painting the interior glass for a fresh, vibrant glow, while replacing cheap plastic or rusty hardware with premium solid brass fittings—preserving the original charm while infusing new life and modern reliability.

Whether it's a whimsical assemblage of salvaged elements or a revitalized classic, each custom lamp is built with care, often featuring unique shapes, textures, and finishes that add personality to any space.

Please note that our lamps are sold with shades separately, allowing you to curate the ideal pairing. Peruse our wide variety of ready-made, one-off lamp shades in timeless styles like drum, empire, cone, or hand sewn, or work with us to handcraft a custom shade—opt for striking patterns, metallic finishes, florals, geometrics with premium fabrics from designers like Kaffe Fassett, Makow UK, Winham Fabrics and others.
