A fabulous and increasingly hard-to-find pair of vintage ceramic table lamps designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi of Italy.
This documented pair of vintage Italian ceramic table lamps by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, is model 6624. The underside of the ceramic is incised “6624,” “BASE,” and “MADE IN ITALY,” helping identify these substantial lamps as an authentic Bitossi design.
Aldo Londi was the longtime artistic director and designer for the renowned Italian ceramics company Bitossi, and his distinctive ceramic designs have become highly collectible examples of mid-century Italian design.
This matching pair features tall, sculptural ceramic bodies with a wonderfully aged green, blue and earthy bronze-toned finish. Incised geometric detailing runs across the ceramic surfaces, giving the lamps plenty of texture while retaining that unmistakable Italian modernist look.
The lamps remain in original vintage condition and have not been rewired.
Overall, they are in very good vintage condition, particularly considering their age. Please note the following condition details:
• One lamp has a couple of small chips/losses to the glaze toward the upper portion of the ceramic body.
• The other has several scratches to the black-painted base.
• Normal age-related wear is present throughout.
• The original lamp harps are missing and have been replaced.
Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.
Measurements:
