This fabulous Mid Century cattail lamp has all the sculptural drama that makes vintage lighting so much fun. With two sweeping flexible arms, original metal shades and a stylized cattail centerpiece, it looks just as much like a piece of sculpture as it does a lamp.
The lamp has been completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and rewired. We intentionally chose not to polish the metal, preserving the wonderful original patina that has developed over the years.
Both lights are mounted on flexible metal gooseneck arms, allowing you to reposition the shades and change both the look and direction of the light.
A push-button switch operates the two lights, allowing you to illuminate either light individually or both lights together. This makes it especially useful as a reading lamp, desk lamp or accent light.
The original metal shades retain their original paint, which shows wear consistent with the age and use of the lamp. We consider this part of its vintage character rather than something to be hidden or refinished.
The underside of the base has been finished with new black felt to help protect your furniture.
Approximate Dimensions:
22.5” tall, depending upon positioning
Up to approximately 24” wide when the arms are extended
Because both arms are flexible, the overall height and width will vary depending upon how you choose to position the shades.
A wonderfully unusual piece of Mid Century lighting, particularly for someone who loves atomic-era design, sculptural lamps and vintage pieces that still proudly wear their history.
