This beautiful vintage lamp has quite a story. We found it languishing in a barn, dusty and forgotten, but far too lovely to leave behind.
We have reason to believe the lamp may be French in origin. It came from a gentleman who inherited it, along with a number of other lamps, from an aunt and uncle who lived in France for many years before eventually opening a lamp repair shop in North Carolina. While we have not found a maker's mark that allows us to definitively identify its origin, its history certainly makes the French connection intriguing.
The ceramic body is a gorgeous deep wine red, almost burgundy, with delicate gold leafy vines decorating the surface. An elaborate metal base and coordinating metal details give it an elegant, Old World quality.
Despite its barn sabbatical, the lamp is in excellent overall vintage condition.

This is a substantial table lamp and can carry a generously sized shade. We've photographed it with several different styles to show just how dramatically a shade can change its personality.
The pictured shades include 14" and 16" drum shades, our Large Empire shade, and a secondhand shade slightly smaller than our Large Empire.
Pictured lampshades are sold separately. Our handmade lampshades can also be made in a variety of fabrics if you'd like to create your own pairing.
