A true icon of Mid-Century design, this 1953 Panther TV Lamp was manufactured by Royal China & Novelty Co., Inc. and embodies the dramatic styling that made TV lamps a staple of American homes during the 1950s.
The sleek panther stretches nearly two feet in length in a classic stalking pose, finished in a rich glossy brown glaze with beautifully sculpted details. Like many vintage TV lamps of the era, this example features a decorative pocket on the back. While these pockets were often used to hold artificial plants or floral arrangements, I do not recommend using it as a live planter, as watering a plant inside an electrical lamp is not advisable.
Whether illuminated or displayed as a sculptural accent, this lamp makes a stunning statement on a credenza, console, mantel, or bookshelf. It pairs beautifully with Mid-Century Modern, atomic, Hollywood Regency, and eclectic interiors and is a fantastic addition to any vintage lighting collection.
