Striking pair of vintage Mid-Century Modern table lamps with a fabulous Atomic-era look. These lamps feature sculptural white bases with an irregular black splatter pattern, metallic accents, and large black orb-shaped sections at the top.
The lower portions appear to be chalkware or a similar cast material and are in excellent vintage condition. The abstract black splatter decoration gives the pair a wonderful 1950s/1960s Atomic Modern character.
The large black balls at the top are plastic. The black painted finish on these sections is failing in areas, revealing a silver-colored finish underneath. Please review the photos carefully for the condition of the painted surfaces. I have left them as found rather than attempting to repaint or restore them.
The lamps retain their original wiring, which is currently in good working condition. The sockets do not match: one has a push-through switch while the other has a traditional turn-knob switch. This suggests that one of the sockets was replaced or other work was performed on the lamps sometime in the past.
Despite their age, the chalkware portions of both lamps are remarkably well preserved, making this an especially fun pair for a Mid-Century Modern, Atomic, retro, eclectic, or maximalist interior.
