An unusual papier-mâché display head with hand-painted facial features and a beautifully timeworn surface.
The head has a wonderfully expressive face with painted blue-gray eyes, arched black brows, rosy lips and softly modeled features. Its surface shows substantial age-related texture, paint wear, small losses and chipping, giving it the unmistakable character collectors of primitive, folk-art and curiosity pieces tend to love.
It would make a striking decorative object on its own, or could be used as a display form for a vintage hat, headpiece, jewelry or textile.
Because I do not have documentation identifying the maker or exact original purpose, I am describing it conservatively as a papier-mâché mannequin/display head.
