Meet Galileo, named for the stars. ✨

Galileo is a one-of-a-kind lamp designed and built by Amie using a striking piece of salvaged vintage glass, new and vintage components, and a little creative alchemy.

His glass body began as a mystery. It appears to have originally been part of a mid-century lamp or other lighting fixture, but exactly what it was is anyone’s guess. Amie held onto the piece for ages, waiting for the right idea to come along.

And then there were the stars.

The glass is painted from the interior in a beautiful turquoise/robin’s egg blue, allowing the glossy surface of the original glass to remain visible. Atomic-style starbursts are cut into the glass, and each one has been accented by hand with gold gilding wax, making the design stand out against the blue.

Galileo sits on an elaborate vintage-style cast metal base with scrolling details. The base has also been finished with gold gilding wax, tying the entire lamp together and giving it a wonderfully dramatic Atomic Age meets Hollywood Regency personality.

The result is a lamp that feels distinctly vintage without being something you’ll find in anyone else’s house. Galileo is part restoration, part reinvention, and completely one of a kind.

The shades pictured are sold separately. Galileo can also be paired with a custom handmade shade to create an entirely one-of-a-kind combination.

Because Galileo incorporates salvaged vintage components, small signs of age or previous life may be present. They are part of the character and history of this unique lamp.
