Pair Columbia Fine Porcelain 38” Figural Urns with Lids | Rococo Porcelain Floor Vases | Applied Roses Courting Scene Urns

An extraordinary matching pair of monumental Columbia Fine Porcelain figural urns, manufactured in China and standing approximately 38 inches tall with their lids in place.

These are unapologetically ornate. Each large porcelain urn is covered with dimensional decoration, including sculpted roses and foliage, elaborate raised scrollwork, richly applied gold accents, and colorful romantic figural scenes. Sculpted figures incorporated around the shoulders give the pieces an especially theatrical, old-world appearance.

The removable domed lids are crowned with clusters of dimensional porcelain roses, continuing the floral decoration from top to bottom.

Their substantial scale makes these much more than tabletop accessories. At approximately 38 inches tall, they are true floor-standing statement pieces, ideal for a grand entryway, formal dining room, large fireplace, staircase landing, foyer, or maximalist interior.

The styling draws heavily from Rococo, Victorian Revival and European romantic decorative traditions, with an exuberant abundance of flowers, figures, scrolls and gilding.

Condition

Both urns have some damage to the delicate applied floral decoration, primarily broken or missing flower petals. This type of dimensional porcelain is particularly vulnerable to small losses.

I have photographed the damaged areas so buyers can examine them carefully before purchasing.

Despite these losses, the urns remain extremely impressive display pieces. Their scale, elaborate figural construction and dense dimensional decoration command attention from across a room.

Because these pieces are exceptionally large, heavy and fragile, they cannot safely be packed together.

The pair will likely ship in three separate cartons:

• Urn #2 individually packed in an oversized box
• Both lids separately protected and packed together in an additional carton

Extensive cushioning, double boxing and/or other protective packing materials may be used as necessary.
