A striking vintage Capiz shell lampshade with wonderfully tall proportions and a classic Mid-Century Modern look.

The shade is constructed from translucent creamy-white Capiz shell panels arranged in a geometric grid and divided by warm brass/gold-tone framework. When illuminated, the natural shell softly diffuses the light and reveals its beautiful pearlescent texture. When unlit, it has a wonderfully sculptural architectural quality.

At 15.25 inches tall, this is an unusually tall shade that is especially well suited to the long, slender proportions of many vintage Mid-Century Modern ceramic, wood, and brass table lamps.

The shade has a gentle taper, measuring approximately 12 inches across the top and 14.5 inches across the bottom.

Please note that the shade is not perfectly round. When viewed carefully from above, it has a slight oval shape. This is noticeable primarily when looking down onto the shade rather than when it is displayed normally on a lamp. Please review the photographs carefully.  Please also note in the photos some imperfections!
