This beautiful vintage Japanese table lamp features a dramatic black ceramic body decorated with colorful pheasants, cherry blossoms, flowers and foliage. The intricate decoration really pops against the glossy black background, giving the lamp a wonderfully rich, almost jewel-like appearance.
The lamp is stamped “Made in Japan” and likely dates from approximately the 1950s–1970s. The older non-polarized electrical cord currently on the lamp is also consistent with that age range.
The ceramic body rests on a carved wood base, adding another layer of warmth and vintage character.
The lamp is in excellent vintage condition and would be especially striking in an Asian-inspired, Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, maximalist or eclectic interior.
Measurements:
22” tall, measured to the top of the finial
Approximately 6” in diameter
The lamp retains its older wiring and non-polarized cord. If you would like the lamp professionally rewired with new wiring and socket before shipping, please ask. Rewiring is available for an additional fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Pictured lampshades are NOT included.
This lamp would pair beautifully with a colorful patterned shade to play up the pheasants and florals, or with a simple solid shade to let the hand-painted ceramic take center stage.
